Northeast Florida Society of Brewers
"Dedicated to helping homebrewers make the best beer"
Official Newsletter for November, 1996
I am sorry that the newsletter was not mailed last month and trust that it did not cause any problems for anyone. You will find enclosed this month a copy and maybe some interesting things.
We are gearing up for our representation at the fair and have named the beer brewed at Dave's home at our October meeting as "Eclipse Red Ale" this beer will be served in small samples to interested people so they can see that homebrew is better than the beers that are avaliable commercially and see some of the processes that are involved in brewing. We have a list of volunteers to help out on Saturday, October 26th and they need to be there from 9:00 - 3:00. This list is as follows: Jody Alford, Dave Miller, Jeff Virtuoso, Steve Pace, Bob Gammie, Craig Weeks, Chris Corneilius, John Garner, John Walker, Frank Gregory, Roger Bull and Mat Copeland. Anyone who was elected to be there needs to show up and show their support by lending a helping hand and if you plan on going to the fair on Saturday stop by and see if you can help by relieving someone who needs a break.
Frank is going to try to have the club shirts for us by then and I sure hope that it happens. Our next meeting is to be at A-1-A Ale House in St. Augustine on November 9th and the Christmas party meeting will be at Bob and Gayle Gammies' home in Neptune Beach on December 7th and there will be our yearly 6 pack trade so bring a six pack of your favorite home brew or commercial beer (no Bud, Busch, etc...) bring something you would drink and remember that if you don't bring anything you don't receive anything!!
Frank is planning a pub crawl on November 3rd and was booked last time so if you are interested contact Frank at the Blue Anchor (262-1592) for more details.
I would like to take a few lines to welcome some new members to our club. The list is as follows:
Steve Pace, Orange Park, FL, Craig and Tammy Weeks, Jacksonville, FL, Land and John Garner D/B/A Seraphina Brewers Supply, Kingsland, GA, Robert Ball, Jacksonville, FL, Robert Phillips, Jacksonville, FL, and Kenny Hicks, Fruit Cove, FL.
If you see someone listed above in your area give them a call and maybe you can help them or they can help you when brewing your next batch. If you see your name above and no phone number (not included on the internet page) please contact one of the club officers and give them your phone number so we can contact you in the event of special club functions.
The brew tasting for this past month was a porter with 3 entries and Dave Miller walked away with another first place with Steve and Patty Stevens of Ancient City coming in second and Chris and Colleen Corneilius at third. Let's get some more entries in upcoming competitions and show some good beers and share in the fun!!!
Page 2 contains a map (not included on the internet page) of the location for our club at the fair so once again if you are free come see us Saturday, October 26th from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.
Another reminder to pay your dues if you are not current!!!
Look at your address label for your expiration date and get current, this is your last chance as you won't recieve a newsletter next month if you are not current.
